We invite you to attend the Minnesota Geothermal Heat Pump Association’s 2014 Annual Conference on January 23-24 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center, with accommodations at the adjacent Embassy Suites Hotel.

For those arriving early, join us at the Reception at the Embassy Suites on Wednesday evening.  The Conference officially begins at noon on Thursday, January 23.  Registration opens at 10:30 a.m. and there will be time to visit with our vendors.  We have invited a state legislator to join us to deliver the lunch keynote, talking about energy policy in the state and the role of geothermal.

After lunch, our vendors will have a few minutes to introduce themselves and talk about some of the products at their booths.  Next, we have three breakout sessions.  Mark Flock is a frequent presenter on geothermal and will talk about selling geothermal to customers.  Mike Wilson will discuss building systems and ways to integrate geothermal for maximum comfort.  Larry Sundberg will discuss the benefits of ECM pumps.

After a break and additional time with our vendors, a roundtable will convene to discuss tax credits in light of a recent IRS interpretations.  Mike Daniels will talk about ways to use financing options to significantly improve your sales closing rate.  Mike Convery and Mark Hoffman will also speak at this time, discussing the new rules for geothermal boring.

Our Annual Meeting follows and we encourage those interested to let us know about their interest in Board service.  After dinner, we will have our exhibits open and more time to visit with our vendors.

Breakfast is included at the Embassy Suites, so the conference resumes at 8:00 a.m. on Friday with three session:  Jeff Beiriger will talk about advocating for geothermal at the state and national level, Richard Hiles will discuss variable speed loop pumping, and Jeff Boshea will talk about diagnosing air flow problems.

A break follows and then we present our final breakout session.  Attorney Dave Turiciano will discuss how you can improve your chances of being paid for the work you do.  John Manning will join us through the miracle of the Internet to discuss troubleshooting using jobsite photos of under-performing systems.  Dave Mohr will be the final presenter in this slot, discussing hydronic buffer tank installations.

There will be a last few minutes to visit with our vendors and then we wrap up with lunch and a keynote address from Gary Connett of Great River Energy.  After Gary’s presentations, we will adjourn to optional tours of the Great River Energy facility, located just a few miles away in Maple Grove.  Bus transportation will be available or maps will be provided to the facility.

We will be staying at the Embassy Suites hotel during the Conference.  The MNGHPA room block is guaranteed through January 3 and rooms are available for Wednesday and Thursday nights at a special rate of $119.00 per night (plus taxes).  Your room rate includes free Wi-Fi access, a two-hour reception each evening, and breakfast in the morning.  Mention “Minnesota Geothermal Heat Pump Association (MNGHPA) to get our preferred rate.
